About
My name is Alison Allocco, and I am a Journalism & Media Studies student at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, with a minor in Digital Communication, Information, and Media. I created this website after learning about the ways that our personal data are used for, by, and against us. In the digital age, we leave small breadcrumb trails of information about ourselves all over the web without thinking twice. I argue that we should think more about what tidbits we leave behind, and how those tidbits are being used by advertisers, social media platforms, and even governments to sell to us, persuade us, and control us. This website serves as an educational tool for any individual who is concerned with data surveillance, usage, and best practices to protect oneself.
